…some Jews from the province of Asia saw Paul at the temple. They stirred up the whole crowd and seized him…
Acts 21:27-36
Jews, from Asia, who had been at odds with Paul there saw him in the temple in Jerusalem. They stirred up the people there against Paul, causing a riot. Seizing Paul, the mob dragged Paul from the temple and the temple gates were closed. As the mob began beating Paul, the Roman soldiers arrive on the scene and the mob stopped beating Paul. The Roman commander placed Paul under arrest but the crowd kept yelling epithets and threatening violence. Paul, bound by chains, had to be carried from the scene to prevent further violence. The mob continued to shout, “Get rid of him!” Scenes of the mobs at Pilate’s headquarters during Jesus’ trials come to mind. Even more than 20 years after the Jewish leaders murdered Jesus, they remain in rebellion against God’s Son and His chosen children. Satan is at the root of all that is going on. He still is today. Yet, some want to down play the role evil has in our world. Christians must remember that Satan and his demons are powerful spirit creatures, more powerful than humans. But, they are creatures just like humans and they have no power over the Creator God. While in this life, we must contend for our faith against such powerful creatures. But, Christians know, from the Word of God, that days of evil are numbered and, in the end, God triumphs, bringing His children into eternity where there is NO sin present, leaving all God’s children to worship and enjoy God’s presence for as long as eternity lasts.
