The Final Judgment

When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit on his glorious throne…

Matthew 25:31-46

Matthew records the words of Jesus as He told of His return to earth and the final judgment of all humanity at the end of this age. Jesus’ teaching is meant to be a comfort to all who are His chosen ones and a warning to all who are not redeemed. Jesus uses the metaphors of sheep and goats to represent the elect and the unredeemed. In John’s book of the Revelation, we understand this to be “the Great White Throne Judgment” of all humans throughout the ages of all time. Scripture has revealed that each human being must give an account of one’s life in all thoughts, words and, actions while living in God’s Creation. Jesus will sit in Judgment, as all Scripture has prophesied, because He is God Incarnate, King of kings and, Lord of lords. All of God’s elect, redeemed by the Messiah, will be placed at the right hand of Messiah. These have had their sins covered by the blood of the Lamb, slain from the foundation of the world, and have been clothed in the righteousness of the Lamb of God, merited by His sinless life lived as the Second Adam. Jesus tells the “sheep,” on His right hand that they are blessed as He describes the deeds the sheep have done in the name of the Savior. Among the “goats,” there will be many who have claimed to be Christian by doing works and deeds in the name of Christ but, their life does not reflect their outward deeds of piety. Some of these “goats” may even be preachers and teachers of the gospel but, they are just as lost as the other goats who were never known by Christ in salvation. He will tell these “goats,” “Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels…” Many humans, that day, will be damned to the fires of eternal hell, finding themselves like the rich man and Lazarus, in Jesus’ parable, who lives in this life without a thought of eternity and the consequences of sin and, now, are in hell to pay eternally for their sins, which no human can ever repay to the Eternal God! Oh, reader, if you know you are not among the Redeemed of the Lord or, you think you are going to Heaven based upon something worthy in you, think again! For, no human comes to Jesus unless the Father draws him to Christ and Christ’s atoning salvation. If you think you are going to Heaven but, your life today does not reflect a complete trust in Jesus Christ, I beg you this day to come to Jesus for, in Him, alone, is salvation! There is no other Name, under Heaven, which can save sinners bound for the fires of hell for eternity. Today, in this life, is your opportunity! When Jesus returns or, at death, it will be too late!
