Have no fear of them, nor be troubled, but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you…
1 Peter 3:8-22
Peter, now, encourages the brethren to be unified in Christ, showing sympathy, brotherly love and, humbleness to one another and to NOT repay evil with evil. In so doing, the Christian may obtain a blessing for “the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and His ears are open to their prayer.” Then, Peter writes of suffering that is “better…for doing good, if that should be God’s will, than for doing evil.” We will see more of Peter writing about suffering in a couple of days. Peter says that Christ, a righteous man, suffered once for the sins of His unrighteous people that He might bring us all to God! The resurrection of Christ is also given to His people who, in the last day, each will be given a glorified body just as Christ was given at His resurrection. Even now, Christ is in “Heaven seated at the right hand of God, with angels, authorities, and powers having been subjected to Him.” Praise God for His great love, grace and, mercy!
