When Peter saw him (John), he said to Jesus, “Lord, what about this man?”
John 21:20-25
After Jesus’ “Do you love Me” encounter with Peter at breakfast, Peter looks at John and asks, “Lord, what about this man?” Remember, Jesus has just told Peter what manner of death he would experience. So, curious Peter wants to know how the others will die. Jesus’ reply to Peter begins with the word “If.” The wording of Jesus led to a saying among believers of that day that John would not die before Jesus returns. Jesus was telling Peter, and the others listening, that it is none of Peter’s business what happens to John, not that John would live until Jesus returns. Christians, the Church is Jesus’ Bride. It is, also, the body of Christ with Christ as its head. The blood of the martyrs built the early church and, today, the blood of the martyrs still builds the church. Every Christian is to have the willingness to die for his/her beliefs. There is coming a time of great tribulation that will cause many to die for their faith. The Jews will turn to Jesus as their Savior and Lord and there will be a great revival among the Jews and the rest of the world. The satanic rulers at that time will seek to destroy everyone who professes Christ as Lord. Though we do not know when this will take place, we can see signs of the times pointing to a one world government which will precipitate the rise of the Antichrist. Now, John finishes his gospel with his statement that everything he has written is true. John, then ends with telling that all the things Jesus did during His earthly ministry could fill every book in the world and that there would be much more to tell. May our Lord bless each Christian who reads this message!
